Microgaming have once again raised the bar for online
video slots with the release of the Dolphins Tale game. It is the
first online slot to have 40 lines and also offers a new style of
free spins feature where you get to select how many spins you want
and can get multipliers of up to twenty times.
The game has an undersea theme with a crime fighting twist. All of
the sea creatures on the reels are part of an underwater police force.
These include the rookie dolphin who is wild, the chief who is a
walrus and the turtle who is long time seeker of justice in the ocean.
Overall it is a fun theme that we have not seen before which is always
nice.
You can bet up to 5 coins per line which gives you a total max bet
of 200 coins. Coin sizes range from a penny to a quarter so the smallest
max bet is $2 and the highest is $50, of course there are plenty
of choices in the middle. Top jackpot is 3,000 coins for the five
wild dolphins or up to 15,000 coins if you are playing max bet. This
might seem a bit low but the feature changes this.
The scattered clams are the key to the bonus game. Land three or
more clams anywhere on the screen and you win the feature. Unlike
most slots where you win a set amount of spins you have a choice
to make on Dolphin Tale. You get to see a line up with five suspects

Image). Choose a suspect to get a free spin amount and a multiplier
amount.
There are five different amounts of free spins to choose from 5,
10, 15, 20 and 25. Each free spin amount has three different possible
multipliers. These get bigger as the amount of spins get smaller
so for instance if you pick 25 free games you can win a 2, 3 or 5
time multiplier while i you pick 5 spins you can get a 10, 15 or

We have seen this type of "Choose Your Own Feature" in land based

this is the first time we have seen it appear online.
It is up to you which one to pick but we would suggest going for
the 15, 10 or 5 free games as these offer the highest multipliers
and in turn the biggest wins. For instance if you get the 20 times

To give you a better chance of winning big on the
free games extra wilds can appear randomly on reels 2, 3 and 4. Once
the spin is complete any of the symbols on these reels can transform
into a wild. This adds to the excitement as even a losing spin can

On of the drawbacks of games with so many lines such as Dolphins
Tale is the fact that many of the wins you will hit will be less
than or even with your total bet. For example getting five of the
lowest paying symbols the "Deep Sea Diners" pays just 200 coins or
your bet back. Clearly you need to hit the bonus games to get any
of the decent wins.
On the flip side you will find that with so many lines you will at
least win something on virtually every spin. Even if this is less
than your total bet you will still get a lot of spins out of most
deposits. The scatters also pay well because they are multiplied
by the total bet rather than the line bet.
In the end it is great to see an online slot that offers a new line
