Nuclear 9's Slot Machine Review

Nuclear 9's is a 5 reel, 9 line slot machine that is part of the Power Spins range found at Microgaming casinos. The game has an optional side bet that activates a Rolling Reels bonus where winning symbols explode and then cascade into other wins.

Nuclear 9's comes in coin sizes ranging from 0.01 to 1.00 and a max bet of 90 coins for the base game and an additional 30 coins if you want to have the Power Spins feature active. You can play less than 10 coin per line with the side bet always being 3X your line bet so at one coin you are looking at 12 coins per spin.

Before we get in to the games payouts it's worth noting that the pay table is dynamic. This means that the payout values are already multiplied by your bet per line. You can see this by opening up the pay table and changing the bet per line. This is not made entirely clear so some players are getting confused as to why they are not getting the correct pays.

The Nuclear 9's logo is wild and substitutes for all other symbols. Getting five on any of the nine lines awards 5,000 coins or 50,000 coins if you are playing max bet. The next highest wins are made up with the various 9 symbols with five green nines paying 2,500 coins, five yellow paying 1,500 and five purple nines paying 750 coins.

There is also a win for mixed nines with five of a kind coming in at 200 coins. After the pays for the nines the rest of the five of a kind line wins come in at between 500 coins (five triple bars) to 40 coins (five Cherries).

The scatter symbol is as you would expect scattered and pays when two or more appear anywhere on the reels. The scatters don't activate any bonus features but they can offer some nice wins with five paying 2,700 coins per coin bet or a big 27,000 coins if you're playing 10 coins per pay line.

If you have the Power Spins side bet active you also have a Rolling Reels feature which is triggered at the end of any winning spins. The symbols of the winning combination explode (Preview) and new symbols drop down to replace them. Any further wins that result are then doubled and the cascade continues until no win is on the screen.

Overall, Nuclear Nines is a good quality slot although we're not really fans of side bets unless the side bet involves some sort of increased free spins or multipliers. You could play this game without the side bet but more than likely the RTP will be lower than if you do. This means there are probably better cascade style games than Nuclear 9's if you have a small gambling bankroll.
