Casino Interviews : Slotland

Slotland is well known for their unique no download games, first class customer service and regular player promotions and giveaways. It was a clear decision that they would be the focus of our first interview in our new Casino Interviews series. We spoke with Slotland's Marketing Director, Ray St. Jonn. Below is a transcript of our interview.

When did Slotland first open for business?

Slotland accepted their first customer in September, 1998.

Are there any special computer requirements needed to play at Slotland?

This is the beauty of Slotland. The only special computer requirement you need is an Internet connection! We are compatible with Windows, MAC, AOL and even WebTV.

How many games does Slotland currently offer and are there any plans for new games in the future?

We currently offer 9 games at Slotland. Three of these are card-based games (two video poker games and one blackjack-type game); the remainder are slot machines. But these are not your typical brainless slots; each offers unique features which distinguishes it from any other game. We are currently working on our 10th game for Slotland and hope to introduce it early next year!

What account funding options does Slotland offer?

Currently, we accept MasterCard, VISA, FirePay, Neteller, and 900Pay. We continue to research new payment options as well.

In our experience the level and speed of support offered at Slotland has been excellent. How do you keep up such a high level of player support?

That is a pretty tough question, but I would have to say that we never rest on our laurels. We are constantly commended for our outstanding customer support, but being number one means there are people trying to oust us from this position.

We never assume that we are perfect and we constantly review our procedures to learn how we can better improve our service. Also, whenever we encounter a dissatisfied customer, we review what did not work and how we can avoid such a problem in the future. Fortunately, we have very few unhappy customers

Your Payouts, at 98% are among the highest available online today. Does this 98% include the jackpot win?

As you may know, individual payouts will vary widely. However, our 98% certified payout includes the jackpot wins that are regularly paid out to players.

Slot players really like to cash in on comps and>bonuses. Does Slotland offer any special incentives for regular players?

We offer many incentives, both for new and regular players. First, we offer a sign up bonus of $10, after the first deposit is made. As you know, you operate a special site, where YOUR referred players can get DOUBLE that sign up bonus, $20! But the bonuses and special offers do not end when you sign up.

First, each deposit has the chance of winning a special bonus of between 10% and 100% of the amount of their deposit (this is our unique Deposit Delights ongoing promotion). Next, for every $1,000 deposited, you earn an automatic $100 bonus. It doesn't matter if it takes you 1 day or 1 year to accumulate $1,000 in deposits; you STILL get the $100 bonus!

Finally, each month we offer up a newsletter to our players, which includes a special promotion where players can grab even more bonuses!

With all the games connected to the same jackpot has one game proved to be "luckier" than others?

Well, one game has hit the jackpot more often than any other, which is Golden 8. It probably helps that this was the first machine and continues to be one of our more popular games. The list below may help your readers decide which machine is "loosest" (this table was constructed in late November, 2002):

Golden 8 was introduced in September, 1998, 50 months ago. Ten jackpots were won, with a total of $599,527 paid out. This equates to an average jackpot of $59,953 paid out per jackpot, with the jackpot hit once every 5 months.

Heavy Metal was introduced in March, 1999, 44 months ago. Five jackpots were won, with a total of $349,918 paid out. This equates to an average jackpot of $69,984 paid out per jackpot, with the jackpot hit once every 8.8 months on this game.

Jacks or Better was introduced in May, 1999, 42 months ago. Four jackpots were won, with a total of $380,984 paid out. This equates to an average jackpot of $95,246 paid out per jackpot, with the jackpot hit once every 10.5 months.

Magic was introduced in September, 1999. Two jackpots were won, with a total of $152,621 paid out. This equates to an average jackpot of $76,311 paid out per jackpot, with the jackpot hit once every 19 months on this game.

Wild Heart was introduced in February, 1999. Three jackpots were won, with a total of $250,049 paid out. This equates to an average jackpot of $83,350 paid out per jackpot, with the jackpot hit once every 11.3 months on this game.

Space Jack was introduced in April, 2000, 31 months ago. Three jackpots were won, with a total of $319,226 paid out. This equates to an average jackpot of $106,409 paid out per jackpot, with the jackpot hit once every 10.3 months.

Treasure Box was introduced in August, 2000, 27 months ago. Four jackpots
were won, with a total of $318,255 paid out. This equates to an average jackpot of $79,564 paid out per jackpot, with the jackpot hit once every 6.75 months.

Booster was introduced in February, 2002, 10 months ago. Two jackpots were won, with a total of $128,631 paid out. This equates to an average jackpot of $64,316 paid out per jackpot, with the jackpot hit once every 5 months on this game.

Now either this helps or just adds to the confusion! As you can see, by game, the average jackpot varies from $54,000 to over $100,000. And each game hits with different frequencies, some as often as every 5 months, and others as distant as every 48 months.

Perhaps this is why they say it is gambling!

Finally, do you have any special hints or tips for players who want to become your next big jackpot winner?

The best tip I can offer is DO NOT GIVE UP! Yes, we have all heard the extremely rare stories of a newcomer dropping in one dollar a walking away with thousands. It can happen, but those are indeed rare stories. Most of our winners have been long-time players.

They have learned the nuances of each of our games, and more importantly, they never give up hope! Someone WILL win our jackpots; these winners KNEW it could be them!
