Blade (Playtech)

Blade is a Marvel superhero who first appeared in The Tomb of Dracula #10 comic book in 1973. Since appearing in the comic, Blade has been made into a TV series and a film that starred Wesley Snipes. For those unfamiliar with Blade, he is a vampire hunting superhero who is part vampire himself. - due to his mother being bitten by one.

On to the slot game and Blade uses the 20 line, 5 reel layout with a max bet of 200 coins. Blade offers something that up until now we had never seen on a five reel slot - the ability to get six of a kind wins instead of the five of a kinds. How does this happen on a five reel slot? The Blade Split symbol is the key. It only appears on the 5th reel but whenever it appears it splits the last symbol of any winning combination giving the possibility of six of a kind.

Clearly the six of a kind wins are not going to happen all that often but when they do you are in for some serious winnings. The Blade symbol (the character not the logo) is wild and pays a huge 25,000 coins for six of a kind. At max bet this comes in at 250,000 coins or 2,500 at the lowest 0.01 coin size.

All of the six of a kind wins are big with six vampires paying 4,000 coins, six guns paying 3,000 coins and six bullets, serums or knives pay 2,500 coins. Even the lower pays are good with six A's or K's paying a nice 500 coins.

While most of the bigger pays are for the six of a kinds there are still some good pays for the more regular five of a kind wins. These include 2,500 coins for five wilds, 1,000 coins for five vampires and 750 coins for five guns.

The Blade Logos are scattered and pay X6, X66 and X666 for three, four or five respectively. It's always nice to see that the theme extends past the symbols and these payouts for the scatters are a nice touch. We would have liked to see a pay for two scatters but the 666 times your bet for the five makes up for this.

Getting three or more Blade logos awards the games free spin bonus. You instantly win 15 free games with a dynamic multiplier. At the start of the feature you get a starting multiplier of up to X5. Each winning spin increases the multiplier for the next spin (up to a maximum of X5) and each losing spin decreases the multiplier to a minimum of X2.

During thee free spins the scattered Blade logo becomes an extra wild that substitutes for everything except the normal wild and the Blade Split symbol. It's slightly odd that the extra wild is not wild for the regular wild but we guess that this would have made the odds of getting the highest pay to easy. The free games can be re-triggered and the Blade Split feature can occur during the free spins.

As with all Playtech Marvel slots you also have the chance at winning one of the four Mystery Marvel Jackpots on any spin. The jackpot feature is triggered at random and awards one of the four jackpots via a pick a pox style bonus where you have to match three to win.
