Slots Guides

There are a massive amount of books for sale on the subject of slot machines. We have read dozens of them and quite frankly most are not worth the time. Many claim to have secret winning tips are sure fire strategies - claims which instantly reveal the fact that the books should be left on the shelves.

One book that we did enjoy reading was Break the One Arm Bandits by well known gambling expert Frank Scoblete. It takes a no nonsense approach to information and is an overall great read.

The book has 16 chapters, starting at the history of the slot machine. If you are not familiar with how slots evolved then this first section alone makes the book worth buying. Frank Scoblete then goes on to cover how the house edge applies to slots and gives details on how over time your bankroll will be diminished. These stats and figures are quite interesting.

He also gives eight example of what types of slots tend to have the highest payout percentages and which slot machines historically have the lowest.

In our opinion the next section is by far the best section of the book and is a must read for all serious slot players. Frank gives us a 20 page interview with a casino insider who uses the alias of "Mr Handle". This interview gives you a great perspective on how casinos think and some good ideas on how to find the best slots in a land based casino.

The next few chapters cover the process of selecting a slot machine to play and include tips and strategies from slot experts in more interview style reading. There is a good money management section that has some sound strategies for keeping your bankroll healthy.

Frank then goes on to explain why all slot machine systems are worthless in the "Protect Yourself at All Times" chapter. He lists the most common schemes that the system sellers try to use and explains why not to buy them. If you still believe in slot systems this should give you good reasons not to.

The book concludes with statements Frank collected from slot machine players during the writing of the book. Many of which are quite humorous to read. There is a short section on the IRS and taxes related to gambling.

Overall this is the best book on modern day slot machines that we have read in some time. If you are a slot machine fan you will find it hard to put this book down until you are finished reading it.

You should be able to find the book at major book retailers and at online book stores such as Amazon.
