Cinerama Review

Originally a three reel, three line progressive with a fixed $1 coin size, Cinerama was re-released in February 2004. The format was changed to a five reel, five line game. The coin size was lowered to a nickel and two bonus games were added into the mix.

The Hollywood theme is the only thing that did not change. The symbols all represent something to do with the cinema. These are items such as movie cameras, scripts, reels of film, lights, microphones and stars. The camera symbols is wild and substitutes for all other symbols except the bonus icons.

The game has a fixed coin size of 5c and a max bet of five coins. This means you can have access to the progressive prize for just a quarter per spin. To win the progressive you need to line up five wild cameras on any of the five pay lines while playing max bet.

If you play less than max bet this combination will pay 10,000 coins ($500) which is no where near the starting level of the progressive which is $15,000. The average jackpot on Cinerama is around $50,000 and the highest jackpot ever paid was a shade over $288,000. In short, if you are going to play this game you should be sure to always play five coins per spin.

As with virtually all progressives there is a huge drop between the top prize and the second highest pay. In Cinerama's case the second highest win is just 1,000 coins ($50). The rest of the wins go from 800 to 4 coins. There is however two extra ways to win some cash on Cinerama - the bonus games.

The first bonus game is won by hitting just one head phone symbol anywhere on the first reel. You are then taken to the second screen game where you get to choose one movie. You then get to see if the movie you have chosen wins any awards - you are then paid your bonus win and returned to the reels.

The second bonus game is a little more difficult to get but tends to pay more than the first one. You need to line up three or more Director symbols on any pay line. You then go to a second screen game where you are the Director. You get to choose the cast for your movie which in turn awards your bonus win.

Overall, the new version of Cinerama is a marked improvement over the old three reel version. With a 5c coin size it is a game that is suitable for all budgets and with a starting jackpot of $15,000 it is well worth a spin or three.
