Jewels of the Ancients

Jewels of the Ancients is a 5 reel, 19 line slot found exclusively at Slotland. It has a spooky theme with vampires, ghouls and bats appearing on the reels. It also has a pick a box bonus stage where you can win up to $1,000.

To win the jackpot you need to bet at least $20 per spin but there is a bit of a problem with this. There is no way to bet exactly $20 per game with all lines active. The $1 coin size comes up a dollar short so you have to go to the $2 coin size which qualifies for the jackpot but comes in at a big $38 per spin.

We're not sure why Slotland have not just gone with a $19 per spin bet requirement for the jackpot and don't really like the way you have to bet much more to have all lines active and go for the progressive. You could of course bet just ten lines at the $2 coin size but we're not really fans of playing less than max lines on progressives.

To win the progressive you need to lime up five of the Diamond symbols on any active line. If you are plying less than $20 per game this pays 1,500 coins which is always going to be much lower than even the minimum progressive jackpot.

After the top pay you have 480 coins for five of the Rings, 240 coins for five of the Goblets and then 120 coins for five Maps. From there the five of a kind wins range from between 60 coins (five Bullets) to 15 coins (Five Garlic).

Jewels of the Ancients has a pick a box bonus with a bit of a twist. To trigger the bonus you need three or more scattered Moon symbols anywhere on the reels. You then move to a second screen where you pick windows to reveal symbols. The amount of different symbols you find determines your bonus win of between $50 and $1,000.

The twist is that you can collect Hint symbols during regular play which give you the location of the different symbols on the bonus. If you manage to collect six of the hint symbols before triggering the bonus you are guaranteed to win the maximum amount on the feature.

In the end Jewels of the Ancients is a great looking game with a unique feature. Unfortunately the bet required for the jackpot is so high that only high rollers will be able to go for the jackpot. We would have liked to see a smaller bet requirement for the jackpot.
