Pay Dirt Review

Pay Dirt is part of the progressive slot range found at Vegas Technology casinos. It has a fixed $1 coin size and requires a max bet of three coins per spin ($3) to qualify for the jackpot. The base level jackpot starts at $5,000 and has gone off at over $50,000. Average jackpot size is $22,000.

The game itself is a classic three reel, single line slot with 8 winning combinations. There is no wild symbol but oddly enough there are quite a few symbols on the reels that do not appear on the pay table. These symbols do not pay anything and can be quite a nuisance.

Unlike most progressives you can have a shot at some of the jackpot if you play less than max coins although we still recommend hitting the max bet button. Max bet on Pay Dirt is three coins which comes to a total of a $3 bet.

If you do decide to play less than three coins per spin you can win 15% of the jackpot with one coin and 25% of the jackpot with two coins. We still think it is well worth the extra couple of dollars to have the chance of hitting 100% of the the jackpot, rather than playing one coin and missing out on most of the cash!

To scoop the progressive you need three fists full of cash on the pay line. The second highest pay is 1,800 coins for three pyramids and the third highest is 900 coins for three green sevens. From there the remaining pays at maximum bet are 300, 150, 60, 30, 15 and 6 coins..

Pay Dirt is not as popular as some of the Microgaming progressives such as Cash Splash or Fruit Fiesta. For this reason the progressive seems to rise at a much slower rate and is won less frequently. Having said that if you see the jackpot over the $25,000 mark it is probably worth a spin or three.
