Slots Q & A

We recently received an email from an All Online Slots visitor who included the following screenshot of a spin on the progressive slot game Major Millions.

Jody M from Texas asked if she was really unlucky, missing the jackpot of over $500,000 by just a few stops on the reels. We thought that this was a great illustration of one of the biggest slots myths and hence the first installment of readers slots questions and answers.

Major Millions

Short Answer
No. While it looks like the jackpot spin was really close you just hit one of the probably hundreds of different combinations of "near miss spins" - designed to get you excited and keep you spinning the reels.

Long Answer
If this was a slot machine made in the days of the first spinning reel slots then you would have in fact been very close to the hit. This is because all symbols on these slots had the same chance of appearing on the reels.

Modern day slots online of offline all use a random number generator which also means that all combinations do NOT have the same chance of being hit. As mentioned above the slot machine programs will feature quite a few combinations that appear to be near misses to get you playing more.

You were somewhat unlucky that you did not hit anything after the two major millions symbols as this win would have been multiplied by 4 - although by the look of your casino balance you where doing quite well.
