Three Stooges 2 Slot Machine Review

Larry, Curly and Moe are back in the follow up to the Three Stooges slot machine from RTG. Three Stooges 2 is a progressive slot that uses the three reel, three line format and has three types of free spin features as well as a wild multiplier bonus.

You can choose from a range of coin sizes that start at 0.10 and go up to 5.00. Max bet is a mandatory three coins so you are looking at playing at least 0.30 per spin if you want to play. Even though you can choose to play in different coin sizes we recommend only ever playing in the 0.10 coin size as the jackpot does not change based on coin size.

The reason we suggest playing in the lowest coin size is the fact that the base jackpot starts at just $250. While this is not a bad jackpot for a 0.30 bet it is hardly a good win for a 15.00 bet. Of course if the jackpot gets to a few thousand dollars then it might make more sense to play at a higher bet level but for most of the time it's not worth doing.

To win the progressive you need to get three or the Three Stooges II logos on any line. The Three Stooges II logos are wild for all symbols except the Larry, Curly and Moe symbols and act as wild multipliers. Get one wild as part of a win and your win is multiplied by X3. Get two and you win is multiplied by X9.

After the top jackpot the second highest win during the base game is 450 coins for three Stooges Studios symbols with two wilds. Without any wilds this combination comes in at 50 coins. From there the next three highest pays with two wilds come in at 270 coins (Cars), 180 coins (Boards) and 90 coins (Diamonds or Cherries).

Just like the original game, the Three Stooges II has three different bonuses with one for Larry, Moe and Curly. All of the features are free spin bonuses with the Moe feature being the best offering up to 100 free games with all wins X10. The features are as follows,

  • Curly's Cashola Feature
Get three Curly symbols on any active line and you win 9 free spins with all wins doubled. Any line with mixed Larry, Curly and Moe adds an extra free game.
  • Larry's Stash Feature
Get three Larry symbols on any active line and you activate the bonus. You then move to the bonus area on the left side of the reels where the dice roll and eliminate one of the free spin wins. Once you are left with one you win that amount of free games. The worst is 7 free spins X2 and the best is 20 free spins X7.
  • Moe's Moolah Feature
Get three Moe symbols on any active line and you activate the feature. You then move to the right hand side of the reels where you have the same dice feature as the Larry's Stash bonus. This time however the worst outcome is 10 free spins X3 and the best outcome is a big 100 free games with wins X10.

Clearly there are some big jackpots that you can win on the free spins especially if you get the 100 free games with wins X10 which boosts the best line win to a very respectable 4,500 coins. You can win the progressive on the free spins but the jackpot is not multiplied. This gives you a situation where the top line win can be higher than the progressive.

If you don't have any luck on the free games, The Three Stooges II has a Win / Win feature where no win or total win as low as 5X bet awards a bonus prize of between 2 and 200 times your total bet. We like the Win / Win feature as it guarantees that you will always get at least something every time you hit the free games.

On top of the progressive jackpot and the various line wins, The Three Stooges II also has two random jackpots that can hit at any time. The Minor jackpot starts at $50 and the Major starts at $250 so again you're not looking at huge wins.

In the end, The Three Stooges II has some great free spin bonuses although the game is really let down with such a low base jackpot. We're not sure why RTG didn't just link the jackpot with the original game which would have seen faster growing jackpots and much higher jackpots available on both Three Stooges games.
