X Marks the Spot

Every pirate knows that when you find a map, the X will indicate where the treasure is buried. The X Marks the Spot video slot takes this idea and turns it into a multi stage bonus screen game. It also adds to the treasure winning chances with a free spin bonus.

The pirate theme is carried out well with this game. All of the symbols are pictures instead of the common A, K, Q, J and 10 symbols. As you would expect the pirate symbol is wild. The cannon is the scatter symbol and the map is the bonus symbol.

On the pay table you will see that five wild pirates pay 4,000 coins. This appears to be the top jackpot until you see that five scattered cannons pays 250 times your bet. At max bet this will pay 5,000 coins so the scatters are actually the highest paying symbols on X Marks the Spot.

Get three or more cannons and you win 15 free games with all wins tripled. This means that the highest pay grows to 15,000 coins. You can win the free spins again on the free spins and the second bonus can also be triggered during the free spins. Bonus stage wins are not tripled.

If you get the map on reels 1, 3 and 5 at the same time you win a shot at the Treasure Bonus. Here you are presented with a map which has multiple X's. You get to pick one to reveal your bonus win (Screenshot). Once you have picked one you get to pick twice more to give your total bonus win.

On the final bonus stage you have the option of swapping the treasure you have found for a key to the treasure chest. This is a bit of a decision to make as the win in the treasure chest could be lower or higher than the win you already have. It is pretty much a case of are you happy with the first bonus pay.

Back to the reels and you have a total of just under 40 winning combinations. Apart from the wild and scatter pays there are some other good wins including 1,000 coins for five treasure chests and 600 coins for five flags. The lowest five symbol pay is 100 coins for either five rum or island symbols.
