When Gold Rally first appeared online it was a three reel, single pay line game with a $5 coins size. In February 2004, Playtech decided to re-release the game featuring a whole different format. Gold Rally is now a 9 reel, 8 line slot machine with a second screen bonus game. The one thing Playtech did keep was the high limit status of the game. Max bet went from $15 to $16 a spin.
As you would expect if you are betting $16 a spin, the jackpots on Gold Rally are top level. It starts at $100,000 and has gone off at over $2,000,000 as well as paying several $1,500,000 plus jackpots. The average jackpot is around the $600,000 mark - quite a respectable win!
The most important symbols on Gold Rally are the scattered scales. Get between 5 and 8 of them on the screen and you get a small pay but get all 9 and you win the progressive. Of course like all progressives you have to be playing max bet ($16) when you hit the winning combination.
Gold Rally has quite a few decent pays in addition to the top jackpot. Three GR logos awards 500 coins, three gold horse shoes awards 200 coins and three pick axes with 100 coins. The thing is that you can get a whole screen of the same symbol and therefore get the same pay eight times!
To make things a little more interesting while you go for the top jackpot, Gold Rally has a second screen bonus game. Land a dynamite symbol on all four corners of the game and the bonus game loads. On the bonus you will see a map with spots marked on it. Click a spot to reveal your prize.
In some cases if the prizes is small you will get another pick. If you do get
a second or third pick the win will always be more than the previous. It should
be noted however that you win the value shown at the end of the picks. This can
be somewhat confusing as adding up all of the wins will be more than the final
value shown. A bit strange but a win is a win.
Overall, Gold Rally offers some of the highest jackpots online. Unfortunately with a huge $16 max bet it is clearly not for all players. If however you do have the bankroll for the big bets then it is well worth checking out. |
