New Five Reel Versions of Cash Splash and Major Millions

Published : 29th of April, 2004

As was rumored in January, Microgaming have released new versions of two of their most popular progressive games - Major Millions and Cash Splash. Both games are now available in the original three reel format or the new five reel video slot format. With two ways to play we are sure to see even bigger and more frequently hit jackpots in the coming months.

So what are the new version like and how do they compare to the originals? Obviously the five reel format changes the game feel. Both games are the first slots online to have 15 lines - a new style of slot for Microgaming. Both also keep the same max bet from the original, with a fixed coin size of 20¢ and a 15 coin max bet you are still looking at $3 per spin to go for the jackpots.

Game play on the games is quite different from the original three reel versions. As with most video slot they have many more winning combinations than three reelers, they also have a higher hit rate. The downside of this is the fact that many of the wins are very small. The up side is that without even winning anything big you should in general get more spins on these games.

In fact the only pay that is shared between the two versions of each game is the progressive, everything else is different. For example on the three reel version of Major Millions the second highest win is $50,000 whie on the video slot version the second highest pay is just $1,600.

So the question comes to mind. Which version is better to play? The reality is that id does not matter which one you choose in terms of winning the top prize. Both the 5 reel and the 3 reel games have exactly the same odds for the progressive. Your decision should be based on what type of game you like to play. Clearly this is why the games have been released - to give players more choice while still going for the same great jackpots.

The two progressives were not the only games Microgaming has added with their latest update. We also have Skull Duggery, a 5 reel, 9 line bonus video slot and Vinyl Countdown another game similar to 5 reel Drive. Vieo poker fans will also fin a new ten hand version of Jacks or Better.
