Gypsy Queen is a five reel, twenty line video slot powered by Microgaming. It has a unique twist to the bonus game as three bonus symbols can either award a pick a box bonus or free spins. As the name indicates the game has a Gypsy theme with fortune telling as the main focus.
As with all Microgaming slots, Gypsy Queen has great graphics and sounds. In this case they have gone for black reels which really compliment the overall theme. The background music is also a nice touch. Of course looking great is one thing but how about the game play?
The good news is that Gypsy Queen has some good jackpots, two bonus games and some very high betting limits. Max bet is 200 coins and you can play in coin sizes starting at 1c and going up to $1. This means you can play up to $200 per spin if you have a big bankroll.
There is no wild symbol on the reels and all wins including scatters must be aligned left to right. The highest paying symbol is the Gypsy Queen logo which pays 2000 coins per coin bet on the winning line. At max bet of 10 coins per line this means you are looking at 20,000 coins.
Second highest pay is for five of the Gypsy symbols which pays 1500 coins multiplied by your line bet. In a bit of a twist there is actually a pay for any mixed logos and gypsy symbols. This is the first time we have seen this sort of pay on an online video slot. Five mixed symbols pays 500 coins.
The scattered crystal ball is the way into the bonus stage. You have to get two or more in any position aligned left to right. Get five and you instantly win 100 times your total bet. After hitting the crystal balls you win either free spins or a shot at the pick a box bonus.
The pick a box stage is a tarot card reading where you have six cards on the table (Screen shot). You get to pick one at a time and are awarded bonus pays. If you are lucky you will reveal the pick again cards which award you another selection. The highest win on this bonus is 30,000 coins.
The free spins are activated in the same way. Depending on how many crystal balls you start the feature with you can win between 12 and 30 free games with all wins tripled. The bonus game cannot be re-triggered during the free games and the highest possible win on a single spin is 60,000.
Gypsy Queen is an interesting game in the sense that you never know what sort of bonus you will be getting when you hit the scatters. If you are a fan of free spin slots then this game might be a bit annoying as we found the pick a box bonus occurred more frequently in our testing.
